Founded in 1982, Knott Laboratory provides forensic engineering and computer animation services to comprehensively reconstruct accidents. We have worked on more than 12,000 failure analysis cases nationwide for the legal and insurance industries, as well as for local and national businesses. We assist our clients from initial contact through investigation, analysis, animation production and expert witness testimony. Our expertise includes vehicle accident reconstruction, product liability, mechanical engineering, civil & structural engineering, fire & explosion investigations and computer animations & graphics.
Knott Laboratory’s experienced staff of engineers and animators work together to produce scientifically accurate graphics and animations which support our engineers in expert witness testimony in state and federal courts around the country. Our computer animations successfully pass strict criteria and standards the United States Federal Court system imposes on all exhibits. Our physics-based animations and visual material are not only accepted in court, but also play a powerful role in clearly presenting critical issues and complex concepts to jurors in mediation and in settlement negotiations.
Over the years, we have assisted clients with several high profile cases such as the Air France 447 crash, Firestone tire failures, the Kansas City Power & Light power plant explosion, the Miller Park crane collapse in Milwaukee, the fatal Princess Diana accident and the Kansas City Hyatt Regency walkway collapse.
Knott Laboratory is also committed to educating insurance and other professionals by offering continuing education seminars through Knott Lab Academy.
Knott Laboratory’s 14,000 square foot facility has been exclusively designed to meet our client’ ‘needs. The building features an investigation lab for hands-on analysis and a multimedia room which seats 81 people for client presentations, in-house seminars and news media coverage.
