Ashley Heist recently joined the Knott Laboratory mechanical engineering department.  While at Knott Laboratory she has worked on a variety of accident reconstruction and product liability cases.   Ms. Heist has investigated cases involving wood chippers, hydraulic excavators, trailer jacks, jaw crushers, and other industrial equipment.  She has also been involved in the reconstruction of an array of vehicular accidents including tractor-trailer rollovers, bus rollovers, low speed impacts, and pedestrian accidents.  Ms. Heist’s work at Knott Laboratory includes scientific analysis, research, technical writing, analytical evaluation, and product testing.

Ms. Heist graduated from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical design.  While at Dartmouth, Ms. Heist was heavily involved in the student-run Dartmouth Formula Race team which built and raced a new formula-style racecar each year.  As a captain and team member, Ms. Heist was responsible for the design, fabrication, and implementation of innovative systems for the racecar including the drive-train assembly, braking system, and suspension uprights.  Ms. Heist also has experience with electrical, environmental, and human factors design.
