Resume

Following High School graduation, Mr. Stoll served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer.  Combat engineers are responsible for constructing roadways, bridges, buildings, and fortifications as well as breaching such elements on the battlefield using modernized demolitions.

Upon completion of Mr. Stoll’s service to the U.S. Army, he returned to school to pursue a formal education.  Mr. Stoll attended the J.B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY where he graduated with both a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Masters of Engineering Degree, emphasis in Structural Engineering.  Mr. Stoll worked as a project engineer for a structural design firm in Louisville, KY where he gained both construction and design experience for a variety of clients including both private and public sector projects.  As a project engineer, Mr. Stoll performed and oversaw the design, evaluation and construction of structural and building-envelope components of residential, commercial, and industrial facilities.

Mr. Stoll’s Masters degree included the completion of a graduate thesis, which evaluated a non-destructive testing method to determine the shear strength of the bond between both carbon and glass reinforced polymer systems and concrete substrates.  Mr. Stoll’s published thesis successfully established that fiber reinforced concrete systems can be non-destructively evaluated for quality control purposes as well as to better predict the performance of the strengthened system.

At Knott Laboratory, Mr. Stoll performs structural, building envelope, and fire investigations.  In the past year, Mr. Stoll has inspected and designed repairs on over 125 structures for damage due to construction defects, fires, vehicle impacts, soil movement, wind, plumbing/freeze losses, snow/ice, and hail.  Mr. Stoll’s has conducted investigations on structures and vehicles in Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Wyoming and regularly presents at educational seminars to both insurance professionals and attorneys on structural, building envelope and fire investigations.

Stan’s personal interests include all of Colorado’s outdoor sports, but specifically: camping, hiking, horseback riding, snowboarding and hunting.
